Why did we run out of kids t-shirts?

Predicting the number of t-shirts to order prior to an event is more an artform than a science. We ordered 3 times as many shirts as we needed last year and thought it would be sufficient... We were wrong!!! We had 4 times as many kids this year as we did last year. Good problem to have I know...but it is still a problem because some kids didn't get a shirt. We, as staff, were disappointed by this shortage... And sincerely regret any disappointment this may have caused.
What are we doing about the t-shirts?

We are ordering more t-shirts and they can be picked up at Ladera Cyclery in the coming days. Please check back to this website for updates. And if you already wrote down your name down on the sheet at registration on the day of the race for you t-shirt, you will be guaranteed a shirt.
Why were there no medals this year?

While the brochure for the race did not promise medals for the children, only an "award" (which the race organizers had designated as t-shirts only this year) the website had clearly (and mistakenly) stated that medals would be awarded. We truly regret this unfortunate mistake.
What are we doing about the medals?

We are ordering medals for all the children who participated in the 1k Dash. You can pickup the medal at Ladera Cyclery in the coming days. Please check our website for the latest news on when we receive them... And if you already wrote down your name down on the sheet at registration on the day of the race for your medal, you will be guaranteed one.
How are we going to avoid this in the future?

Our volunteers have worked very hard for many months putting this event together and the last thing we wanted was to have anyone leaving the event unhappy or look at next year's event unfavorably. This is our second year running the event and we will learn from these mistakes and make next year's race even better!
We deeply apologize for this confusion and we truly appreciate your understanding...
